Made in Rezza Commissions

Made in Rezza Commissions: Applications Now Closed

FUSE Darebin is seeking applications from Reservoir-based artists, makers and creatives to develop, produce and present a new artwork (or artworks) for display in selected Reservoir-based traders’ windows during FUSE Autumn 2022 (11-27 March 2022)

About Made in Rezza
Made in Rezza has been developed in partnership with the Victorian Government to support practising artists and creatives in Reservoir. The project will commission 15 artists, makers and creatives to develop and present new work in their own neighbourhood, for local audiences. Works will be displayed in 15 local shopfronts, promoting the practice of each participating artist and activating local business in the centre of Reservoir.

Each selected artist will receive a $3000 commissioning fee. The commissioned artworks will represent diverse artforms and mediums, including but not limited to 2D works, 3D and object-based works, text-based works, fashion and wearable art, homemade produce, community engaged projects, and live or recorded film, dance, performance or music-based works.

Made in Rezza is intended to support the continuation or extension of existing creative practices and connect artists and makers with local audiences. Commissioned works do not need to respond to a central theme – commissioned artists are invited to explore or expand upon ideas and concepts that are relevant to their practice at this moment in time. However, artists should consider how their works will connect with or are relevant to Reservoir audiences.

FUSE will also commission a filmmaker to create 15 short films profiling each participating artist and their creative process. These films will be shared on the FUSE website and socials during the festival and made available to the artists for their own promotional use.

Who can apply?
Made in Rezza is open to creative practitioners from a broad range of artforms and creative practices, including visual artists, designers, crafters, performers, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, writers, curators, and food and beverage makers. You must live or work in Reservoir or be able to identify a strong connection to the suburb to be eligible. FUSE welcomes applications from artists/creatives of any age, and at any stage of their career, and strongly encourages registrations from people who identify as First Nations, from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, people who are Deaf and LGBTIQA+ people. Both individuals and collectives/groups are welcome to apply.

Two Information Sessions will be held online for those wishing to find out more about Made in Rezza and ask the FUSE team any questions. These sessions are optional but recommended. You can register for one or both of these sessions here.
