Maya's Pruning Workshop
Maya’s garden is full to bursting with beautiful fruit trees including 32 apples, persimmons, cherry guavas, feijoas and citrus.
Using grafting and pruning techniques, she has created an edible hedge of her fruit trees with a combination of espalier, cordon and other interesting shapes. In this session, Maya will introduce you to the needs of different fruit trees and guide you on pruning and maintenance techniques for shape, health and fruit.
The Backyard Harvest Festival is opening home food gardens for tours and workshops get you inspired to grow your own fresh healthy food. This includes include sessions on keeping backyard chooks and quails, organic pest and disease management, composting, aquaponics, and fruit tree pruning techniques – as well as guided tours of some of Darebin’s most abundant private food gardens and community gardens.
