About : Meet the Makers Picnic

We are thrilled to announce the return of FUSE Darebin with an exciting one-day event Meet the Makers Picnic, scheduled for Saturday March 23rd, at the stunning Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.

Presented by FUSE Darebin, this free and inclusive gathering promises to be a day packed with music, culinary delights, and community engagement.

Join us as we immerse ourselves in a vibrant celebration showcasing local talent, live music performances, DJ sets, and an array of activities suitable for all ages.

Get ready for an incredible music lineup curated by DJ JNETT, featuring local talent like Wax’o Paradiso, Bumpy, and Teymori

At the heart of the event is the Makers Showcase, where local producers compete across various categories of homemade wine, beer, preserves and bread.

Judged by esteemed local businesses such as Jamsheed Wines, La Siréne Brewing, Constante Imports, and Akimbo Bread, this friendly competition highlights the finest offerings from Darebin's makers.

This long running and much-loved community event provides a unique opportunity to stroll through the showcase while sampling homegrown beverages and produce. Hear first-hand stories from the makers themselves and learn about their inspirations, techniques, and stories.

Families can look forward to an engaging program tailored just for them, featuring fun activities and entertainment for children, including a pop-up space from Victoria University.

Festivalgoers will have an opportunity to participate in the Aboriginal cultural experience with Aunty Brenda Fahey, which features hands-on activities like gum nut painting, dot painting on faces and rocks, storytelling, crafting with emu feathers and macramé.

Attendees are invited to savour a curated selection of food and beverages available on-site or bring their own picnic baskets to enjoy amidst the picturesque setting of the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.

This inclusive and accessible event is designed to bring together individuals from all walks of life to celebrate the vibrant culture and creative spirit of Darebin.

Mark your calendars and join us on March 23rd for a memorable day of festivities, as we come together to honour what makes Darebin such a special and thriving community.
