A fun arvo for teen writers to perform freshhh poetry, stories, raps, monologues and songs, presented by comedian Lauren Bok.

Are you ready to SLAM? Writers aged 13–17 are invited to Teen Poetry SLAM, an afternoon of performing live freshhh poetry, stories, raps, monologues and songs at Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre.

Members of Darebin Decibels will kick off the SLAM as MC comedian and writer Lauren Bok drives the afternoon with young poets performing their works in under two minutes. With no topics off-limits, teens are empowered to approach the mic in a non-competitive and fun environment. Registration is FREE, by Wednesday 14 September. Audience tickets are also FREE, please register.

In the lead-up to the SLAM, would-be poets are invited to the Teen Poetry Performance Workshop with poet and performer Amanda Anastasi (convener of La Mama Poetica). Writers can hone their pieces, or create new ones, while learning how to perform poetry, work on stage presence, voice projection and tips on how to memorise their writing.
